Day 17 Sheridan to Gillette 113 mile

a familiar site, me eating while everyone gathers around getting their queue sheets

For the longest ride in the tour I packed 3 gu shots, one clif bar, 3 water bottles and stopped at all sag stops. But it helped to have a filling breakfast. Once again everybody finished packing and ready to ride while I’m still chowing down on my breakfast (2 packets of oatmeal, banana, glass of oj and some water to throw back my daily multivitamin, Sudafed and allegra). Ed and I made up a lot of ground since the first 18 miles had some uphill and were leading the way until we stopped off at the Spotted Horse CafĂ© at mile 74. It took the joint an hour and a half to get my burger cooked and allowed the rest of the riders to regroup and left before I even got my burger. All in all it took 6 hours and 20 minutes of ride time to finish. The last 20 were packed with more rolling hills and even stronger headwinds than in the early afternoon, blah. To top off the longest ride of the trip a group of guys went to the Prime Rib Steakhouse (mainly the older guys who can afford it- I feel for the college kids). Idk if it’s because I was hungry, but that was the best prime rib ever and now I have food coma. So I’m calling it a night.
